The requirements for non-flammable materials in aircraft are mainly concentrated in the passenger cabins and cargo bays. However, there are numerous potential sources of fire in an aircraft, particularly as a greater proportion of the airframe and fittings necessarily become manufactured in flammable materials in order to reduce weight and enhance fuel efficiency.
